Redwood City, CA - November 5, 2001 - Uptilt, Inc., the parent company of EmailLabs, announced today that it was ranked number 400 in Interactive Week's Interactive 500 list. The Interactive 500 list is considered the most complete listing of the Internet's biggest e-commerce players. Interactive Week's third annual list ranks companies based on online sales over four quarters, starting July 1st, 2000 and ending June 30, 2001. Online sales were defined by the Department of Commerce: "E-commerce sales are sales of goods and services over the Internet, an extranet, electronic data interchange or other online. Payment may or may not be made online."
Uptilt, a premiere application service provider, placed at number 400 on the Interactive 500 List, among other internet-based companies such as Amazon.com, Internet.com, and hotjobs.com. Uptilt brought in 1.2 million in revenue during the four quarters that were measured, with a profit of $200,000, making it one of the e-commerce leaders in the industry. In a market where 330 dot coms failed, Uptilt was a company that flourished and is one of about half of the top interactive 500 list that was profitable by year's end.
Dave Dabbah, VP of Business Development for Uptilt, attributes the success of the company to understanding the needs of the customers and growing the business at an even pace. "Email Marketing works if you do it the right way," states Dabbah "and the growth of our business is based on our ability to continue to explain how email marketing can work more effectively for our potential customers. We are different in the sense that we have a product that actually works. Many dot-coms had products that didn't provide value. Our email-marketing product does work in the sense that it does help you generate more revenue and stay in touch with your existing customers. It really works."
Uptilt first launched its suite of private label web tools in October 1999. By May 2000, due to the overwhelming success of the Mailing Manager tool, Uptilt officially launched a new division called EmailLabs. EmailLabs provides a complete email-marketing solution, from customer database management to complete reporting and analysis, to Fortune 1000 companies.
"The reality is if you provide a great product, great service and you really go out of your way to take care of your customers, you can build a profitable business in any economic environment," continues Dabbah. "We are able to do it because we understand that the value of taking care of our customers, of competitive pricing, and of following through with what we say we can do and not providing false promises."
